Thara Manoj Kumar, a final year student of Bhimavaram SRKR Engineering College, received a merit scholarship of ₹10,000 from the USA-based 'Vadapalli V. Ramakrishna Memorial' for securing the highest marks (9.24 CGPA) up to the third year.
In a special program held at the college on Wednesday, the USA-based merit scholarship was presented to Manoj Kumar by College Vice President S.V. Rangaraju, Director Dr. M. Jagapathi Raju, and Principal Dr. K.V. Muralikrishnamraju.
Speaking on the occasion, ECE Department Head Dr. N. Uday Kumar stated that the 2003-2007 batch of ECE students had established this scholarship in the name of their deceased classmate, Ramakrishna. He said that this cash prize is given every year to the student who secures the highest CGPA up to the third year in the ECE branch.
