HAR GHAR TIRANGA CAMPAIGN: Collector exhorts youth to display patriotism

West Godavari district collector Chadalavada Nagarani urged the youth to show their patriotic spirit by ensuring the national flag is flown in every home. She called on them to unite and contribute to the nation's integrity and solidarity, helping India achieve a higher status on the global stage. As part of the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' celebrations and the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign, a special event was held on Monday morning at SRKR Engineering College here, where hundreds of students participated. Following a patriotic song session, a massive rally was organised, featuring a 200-metre-long national flag that was carried from the college campus to the main road. Leading the rally, collector Nagarani, along with other district officials, held national flags and chanted slogans like "Jai Hind" and "Swatantra Bharat Ki Jai." Speaking at the event, the collector highlighted that the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' programme is a brainchild of the Prime Minister and a patriotic initiative that everyone should embrace. She expressed pride that the designer of the national flag, Pingali Venkayya, hailed from the state of Andhra Pradesh. Nagarani also encouraged citizens to hoist the national flag at their homes, offices, and public spaces from August 13 to 15 to demonstrate national unity. Principal Dr KV Muralikrishnam Raju also addressed the students, urging them to contribute to the country's progress and uphold its integrity and unity. He stressed that by doing so, they would be showcasing their patriotism. Prior to the rally, a meeting was held in the college's main auditorium where dance performances by students from various schools, cantered on the theme of patriotism, were highly appreciated by the audience. District Revenue Officer Mogili Venkateswarlu, Bhimavaram RDO K Praveen Kumar Reddy, DEO E Narayana, Bhimavaram Municipal Commissioner Ramachandra Reddy, District Tourism Officer Appa rao, and a large number of students also attended.

Bhimavaram Bulls logo, jersey unveiled

The logo and jersey for the Bhimavaram Bulls, a team participating in the Andhra Premier League (APL), were unveiled on Friday at the SRKR Engineering College here. The ceremony was conducted by Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker and Undi MLA Kanumuru Raghu Rama Krishnam Raju, along with Public Accounts Committee chairman and Bhimavaram MLA Pulaparthi Ramanjaneyulu. During the event, both Raghu Rama Krishnam Raju and Pulaparthi Ramanjaneyulu expressed their best wishes for the Bhimavaram Bulls, hoping the team will win the tournament and return to Bhimavaram with the cup. They urged the players to play hard to honour the name of Bhimavaram and urged local sports fans to provide strong support to the team. SRKR Engineering College Vice-President SV Rang Raju and Principal Dr KV Murali Krishnam Raju stated that hosting the logo and jersey launch for the prestigious team was a source of pride for the college and a great encouragement for its student athletes. They extended their gratitude to everyone who made the event possible. Nithish Kumar Reddy, the captain of the APL Bhimavaram Bulls, said that the league provides a great platform for players from Andhra Pradesh to gain national recognition. He announced that the APL cricket matches will be held in Visakhapatnam from August 8 to 24, with seven teams participating. The college management honoured Captain Nithish Kumar Reddy, Munish Varma, and Hemanth Kumar during the ceremony. College Administrative Officer Ch Dileep Chakravarthy and other dignitaries were present.

Employment opportunities with natural resources

SRKR Engineering College Principal K.V. Muralikrishnamraju said that youth can undertake many self-employment schemes with natural resources. He participated and spoke at an awareness program conducted on Tuesday at the Jakkaram Panchayat office. The event was organized with the support of the central government's Department of Science and Technology (DST) and held under the aegis of the college's Science and Technology Innovation Hub. Hub Principal G. Harishkumar Varma, speaking on the occasion, said that resources like water hyacinth, which is available in rural ponds and crop canals, have many natural medicinal properties. He stated that the college provides technical training on using these resources to make fish feed and poultry feed, as well as on extracting oil from fish and conducting water testing in aqua ponds. Jakkaram Sarpanch K. Padmavathi, Secretary B. Srinivasarao, STI Hub Co-Principal CH. Badriraju, and Professor N. Sivakishan participated in the event.

The poor and weaker sections must achieve economic progress with technology

Bhimavaram SRKR Engineering College Principal Dr. K.V. Muralikrishnamraju stated that the rural poor, by embracing technical knowledge with the support provided by the central and state governments, should each achieve economic progress through self-employment. Under the aegis of the college's Science and Technology Innovation Hub (STI-Hub) and with the cooperation of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), an awareness program was conducted in Peda Amiram village of Kalla rural mandal on changing the livelihood of rural people through aquaculture innovation. The program was presided over by the STI-Hub's Principal Investigator, Dr. G. Harish Kumar Varma. Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr. K.V. Muralikrishnamraju urged the SC, BC, and weaker sections from rural areas to utilize the technical assistance provided by colleges for their development. Kalla MPDO G. Swathi, who was present, suggested that rural youth should also get such part-time training to gain employment in the vastly growing aqua sector. STI-Hub Principal Investigator Dr. G. Harish Kumar Varma said that with the support of the central government's DST, training will be provided that is useful to the aqua sector. He said training on topics like water quality testing, locally preparing eco-friendly aqua feed, and extracting oil from fish will be provided in specially established laboratories at SRKR Engineering College. He mentioned that Kopalle and Jakram villages have also been selected for this training and urged the rural BC and SC poor to make good use of this opportunity. College In-charge G. SRKR students win 1st prize at hackathon

A team of third-year Computer Science Engineering students from SRKR Engineering College won the first prize and a cash award of ₹15,000 at a 24-hour hackathon. The winning team, comprising Chandrani Maheswari, Chintala Srikar, Gandham Bhaskar, Battula Bhargavi Tejaswi, Bongu Ashok, and Salapu Kalyan, developed an application called ‘Heal Verse.’ The app is designed to serve as a guide and observer for sportspeople, offering them yoga and health tips. The hackathon, named ‘Vedic Vision 2k25’, was conducted on August 14th and 15th by the college’s Physical Education Department, CSD, and CSIT wings. The prize distribution ceremony was held on Saturday at the college's Technology Centre, presided over by Dr P Satyanarayana Raju, the college’s Physical Director. Students from SRKR’s CSIT and IT departments secured the second prize and a cash award of ₹10,000, while a team from Aditya University won the third prize and ₹6,000. Addressing the students, College Director Dr M Jagapati Raju encouraged them to work hard, gain knowledge of the latest technologies, and attend workshops and seminars regularly. College Vice-President SV Ranga Raju and Principal Dr KV Murali Krishnam Raju stated that the college organises hackathons annually to foster student growth. The event coordinator Dr P Satyanarayana Raju said that 265 students from 53 teams across eight different colleges participated in the competition. Other dignitaries present at the event included Technology Centre HoD Dr N Gopala Krishna Murthy, CSD HoD Dr Mudunuri Suresh Babu, and IT HoD Dr P Ravikiran Varma.
