- The department has done an IEI grant for R&D project entitled as "Unmanned ground vehicle for explosive diffusion."
- The department also offers consultancy in testing of Dielectric strength of transformer oil, Calibration of instruments like Insulation meggers and Tong testers , Multimeters/Voltmeters, testing of protective relays.
- The department promotes research and development in thrust areas like Smart grid, Micro grid, Power electronics& drives, Power system Protection and Renewable energy Sources, etc
